Sant Jordi is a traditional celebration in Catalonia on 23 of April.
This is the day of love.
The main event is the exchange of gifts between sweethearts, loved ones and respected ones. Historically, men gave women roses, and women gave men a book to celebrate the occasion.
Roses have been associated with this day since medieval times, but the giving of books is a more recent tradition, and more expensive.
By the end of the day of Sant Jordi, some four million roses and 400,000 books would have been sold in the name of love.
Well, in my opinion this is a really nice tradition which everybody should celebrate.
to celebrate this day in high school we have done some different activities, for example, I have done a cooking activity and I've made two cakes.
tomorrow I'll put the recipe in the blog.
There is a minour thing I hadn’t known before which I want to tell you:
This is the only day of the year when the Palau de la Generalitat, Barcelona's principal government building, is open to the public.
